September resolution: Focus on one thing at a time

The last weekend has been spent away from my laptop because I’m trying to make a new habit starting this month:

Focus on one thing at a time. Do it!

Sounds simple right? Not really.

The moment I go online, a lot of things are competing for my attention: Gmail, Plurk, Twitter, Google Feedreader to name just a few. I get so sidetracked that I end up accomplishing nothing.

Add to that almost a decade of my life being trained to multi-task and to accomplish so many things at the same time that my brain has become hyperactive.

Back then, I thought it was being efficient and productive.

Now, I realize it’s just plain crazy.

So this month, I’m going back to basics.

I’m just using my journal and making a simple numbered list for the day.

I tried it for one day and it worked really well.

I listed down everything I wanted to do then I focused on one thing and accomplished it before moving on the to next item.

I became more productive instantly.

Today would be a good day to start again.

Call it my September resolution.

Do you have a resolution for the month?

It’s a real challenge to do this but I’m trying everyday. :) Yup, good resolution too: raket…. save…. raket…. save!
